Hepatology

Hepatology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the liver, bile ducts and gallbladder. Changes in liver values, sonographic findings or non-specific complaints require a structured internal clarification in the gastroenterological context.

In my practice, hepatological diagnostics are done internally, guideline-oriented and with modern imaging as well as differentiated laboratory diagnostics. The goal is a precise classification of the findings and a well-founded therapy decision.

Typical Questions

  • Increased liver values of unclear cause
  • Fatty liver disease (MASLD / MASH)
  • Chronic viral hepatitis (hepatitis B, C, E)
  • Autoimmune liver diseases
  • Clarification of liver fibrosis and liver cirrhosis
  • Follow-up checks on known liver diseases

Modern Liver Diagnostics

  • Laboratory-based liver diagnostics and course assessment
  • High-resolution sonography of the liver and bile ducts
  • Color Doppler sonography for assessing liver perfusion
  • Contrast-enhanced sonography (CEUS) for differential clarification of focal liver lesions
  • Elastography (shear wave and conventional methods) for non-invasive assessment of fibrosis and cirrhosis

A particular focus is on sonographic liver diagnostics with a combination of B-mode sonography, color Doppler, contrast sonography and elastography for the most accurate characterization of suspicious findings.

In complex or therapy-requiring findings, coordinated further treatment is carried out - if necessary - in close cooperation with specialized centers.

The goal is always a clear medical classification, a sensible therapy strategy and a structured follow-up check.
