Thyroid, Hormones & Diabetes
Hormones control energy, weight, blood pressure, bones, sleep and mood. Many complaints are non-specific - what is crucial is a structured diagnosis and a clear classification.
In my practice, the clarification is done internally (laboratory, ultrasound, functional diagnostics). In complex cases, collaboration with radiology, nuclear medicine or specialized centers takes place.
Examination & Treatment – Focus Areas
Thyroid
- Laboratory, high-resolution sonography, color Doppler
- Elastography: shear waves and conventional (hardness quotient healthy vs. nodes)
- Clarification of nodes, inflammations and functional disorders
Pituitary Gland / Prolactin
- Clarification in case of hyperprolactinemia (including differential diagnosis)
- Follow-up checks; in case of suspected prolactinoma, interdisciplinary co-treatment as indicated
Adrenal Gland
- Hormone analyses and differential diagnostic classification
- Clarification in case of hypertension, hormone excess or deficiency (depending on the constellation)
Osteoporosis / Bone Metabolism
- Clarification of causes (laboratory), therapy recommendation and follow-up checks
Andrological Issues
- Clarification in case of suspected testosterone deficiency / age-related hormone changes
- Classification of libido, performance and exhaustion symptoms, follow-up checks
Diabetology
- HbA1c/blood sugar, insulin resistance (depending on the question, including C-peptide/autoantibodies)
- Therapy adjustment in type 1/type 2 diabetes
- Glucose sensor systems (CGM/FGM) and cardiometabolic risk management
Classification instead of Actionism
Not every laboratory value needs immediate therapy. The goal is a sensible plan - understandable, effective, without unnecessary measures.
